Corporate Yoga is especially designed for stress release and RSI prevention. The location and time were chosen to provide people with an opportunity to unwind at yoga immediately after work, and then go on to a relaxing evening at home. The Personal Health Club is very near the World Trade Centre in Amsterdam South. In these sessions you will be taught traditional Hatha Yoga postures, combined with more dynamic exercises which have proven highly effective in releasing stress and increasing energy levels. Also, there is a strong emphasis on improving the breathing technique, learning natural methods of relaxation, as well as how to focus and calm the mind.
Cricket Training and fun matches in Hoofddorp

Power Yoga

Power yoga is, as all other forms of yoga, a method of personal development and self realisation. However, unlike other types of hatha yoga, power yoga links postures with the breath in a powerful, flowing style. This vigorous practice is done in a relaxed and alert atmosphere in which the breath is used as a constant point of reference for returning to and resting in the present moment. On a basis of a regular practice, power yoga promotes physical and mental strength, balance and flexibility, resistance to illness and reduction of stress, increased concentration and awareness.
Sailing

We sail either on the Kagerplassen, just north of Leiden followed by an evening barbecue or on the Loosdrechtseplassen west of Hilversum including a picnic on an island and followed by an evening meal at one of the local restaurants.
The boats we hire for € 70/day are generally Valks, stable gaff-rigged fixed-keel boats with space for 3-5.
We are not serious racing types but rather focus on the social side of the sport. Beginners are most welcome. As wee need a skipper for every boat, I would like to hear from any skippers out there willing to lend their services from time to time. We can usually find lifts for those without transport.
We sail every 2-3 weeks starting Sunday May 9th followed by May 30th, both at Kaag. Later dates are tentative - the major road works on Kaag during the summer give us the opportunity to make at least three trips to Loosdrecht this year. Planned so far: June 13th, 16th July 10th. Back to Kaag for sailing on August 1 and 22nd and last date September 12th.

Soft tennis

Soft tennis or Nantei is the Japanese version of lawn tennis. It's played on a tennis court and the rules are similar to tennis. The main difference from tennis is that soft tennis also relies on spin because the ball is lighter and inflatable. The game is mainly about using spin and adding some power. If you have played any racquet sport you will be able to play (it is particularly easy for squash players to pick up). We play outdoors if at all possible and otherwise indoors. If you are a Britsoc member and register with us, you can use the swimming pool / sauna after the game at no extra cost. Come along and give it a try!
Squash

The weekly ‘squashers’ meet at the Amstelpark. The centre has great facilities, followed by a free after-game sauna or swim. Whatever your standard, you should be able to play 3 or more opponents an evening. We usually finish with a snack and some beers. Just ask for the BritSoc courts.
Squash Box League

A shared activity between BritSoc and the Elynx website, the box league is intended to help participants to meet different playing partners and provide a level of competition. You will be grouped with players of a similar level to yourself, each of whom you will play against during a month. Better players will be promoted to a higher skilled group, and lesser players will be relegated to a lower one.
The Box League will be launched once we have signed up a minimum of twelve committed players.
To sign up for the Squash Box League, please contact us and provide the following:
- Full name
- Contact phone number and/or email address
- Approximate level of play – starting out / can play / rather good / out for blood Note that you must be available to play within the Amsterdam region. Please email Paul to receive more information.
Tennis

This is a tennis group to compliment the squashers who also play on Tuesday nights at Amstelpark. After exercising, several of us join up to socialize accompanied by supper and drinks. For the summer season (which has now started), we have reserved two fixed indoor courts. It costs 8-10 euro per person and we play for an hour. Hope to see you there.
